LifeSize, with Logitech, is a founding member of the Unified Communications Interoperability Forum (UCIF), a non-profit alliance of worldwide technology leaders. The UCIF is designed to help global businesses be more productive by enabling standards-based, cross-vendor interoperability of UC hardware and software across enterprises, service providers and consumer clouds.

In today's competitive and fiscally aware business environment, companies are looking for ways to create efficiencies and minimize expenses. Today, the UC environment is fragmented and hardware and software rarely work together unless everyone is using solutions from the same vendor. For this reason, Logitech / LifeSize helped found the UCIF. By working together, we will collaborate openly with the other UCIF members to ensure that products and solutions from different manufacturers and service providers work together seamlessly, so they are both accessible and effortless to use for our customers. We believe that only when unified communication (UC) platforms become truly interoperable will we see mainstream adoption of these technologies and integration between the many types of media that are used to enable UC, including PCs, smartphones and meeting rooms enabled with in multi-party HD video communication solutions.

UCIF – An overview

What the Unified Communications Interoperability Forum (UCIF) is:

• A non-profit open alliance between many worldwide technology leaders working together to fully realize the potential of unified communications
• The vision for the forum is to enable interoperability of UC hardware and software across enterprises, service providers, and consumer clouds
• The UCIF creates and tests interoperability profiles, implementation guidelines and best practices for interoperability between UC products and existing communications and business applications.
