LifeSize Connections Wins Product of the Year Award

Scott Lomond, VP – Cloud Services

I am very pleased to announce that LifeSize Connections, the cloud-based video conferencing service from LifeSize, has received the Communications Solutions Product of the Year award from TMCNet. We are honored that TMCNet has taken notice of the unique capabilities that we have designed into this innovative and exciting new service.

“LifeSize was chosen to receive a 2011 Product of the Year Award for creating outstanding advancements in communications,” said Rich Tehrani, CEO, TMC. “LifeSize Connections has proven benefits for its customers and provides ROI for the companies that use it. Congratulations to the entire team at LifeSize. I look forward to more innovative solutions from them in the coming year.”

Cloud-based video is a hot trend these days. Leveraging hosted infrastructure in the cloud certainly makes IT’s life easier by eliminating the need for deploying and managing costly and complex systems like NAT/firewall traversal servers, bridges and gateways. Especially for companies with limited IT staff and budgets, it makes all the sense in the world to let LifeSize Connections handle this heavy lifting. My colleague John Skeehan wrote a terrific blog series about on-premise vs. cloud infrastructure if you want to learn more about these two deployment options.

Along with making life easier for IT admins, cloud-based video conferencing delivers many substantial benefits to the end user. Cloud-based video is extremely easy to use, with customers able to deploy endpoints in minutes all around the world. Whether you want to have a 9-way HD video conference between meeting rooms and remote desktop workers, share your desktop to collaborate with other participants, add callers on the fly, or invite free guest users to join you in a video conference, it can all be done with just a few clicks. It doesn’t get much easier than that.

We at LifeSize are dedicated to relentless innovation and that’s exactly what we’ve delivered in LifeSize Connections. As a bonus, I am pleased to share that Connections is now capable of up to 1080p video on the latest-generations of PCs and Macs. This new feature is enabled through the use of Intel® Media SDK. What does this mean for the end user? Higher resolution for amazingly clear and fluid video, lower CPU utilization, lower power consumption and longer battery life. This makes for an all-around better experience for our customers with the newest PCs and Macs.
