A top 5 enterprise communications systems provider comes to mind. From my special time there, I learned how to create an atmosphere of success and empowerment within a sales organization. Motivating the sales and support team to accomplish goals as a team was instilled. The secret to success was developing the team to work co-hesively through outside teambuilding activities such as whitewater rafting. Everyone in the boat had a role and responsibility. Everyone had to work together to be successful. Everyone was important to reach the goal of completing the task. By providing these types of activities we learned about each other and how we can best work together to be successful in the work environment.

Thank you for allowing me to share my experience. This was a great forum.

Hi Ted,
That's a great idea. I often suggest summaries or objectives as a way to quickly and clearly communicate your skills. Tailoring your summary to a particular job will certainly make you stand out!
Thanks for reading,
Mercedes

I really liked the idea of providing examples along with the tailored approach.

From a resume submitter standpoint, the trick is to be concise.

Question for Mercedes:
"For a person with experience, do you think it would be a good idea to use a summary at the top with a bullet list related to the tailored job and then cover details related in each job below?"

Hi Mercedes,

Thank you for the thoughtful article about resumes. I have encorporated that advice both as a hiring manager and a candidate for several years now.

In supporting the spirit of the article, please note that the text reads "loose" interest instead of "lose."

Best Wishes,

Jocelyn Bingham

[...] Ask for business cards. It’s a great closer, shows that you are interested in your interviewers and indicated that you want to establish a relationship with them. It’s also an easy way to get everyone’s contact information so that you can send a thank you for their time. (Check out Why Thank You Notes are Important.) [...]
