Take a look at your smartphone; it can do almost everything you need it to do. But imagine if you had to buy separate smartphones for separate functions: one for calling, one for text messaging and one for surfing the web. Walking around with three separate cell phones is unimaginable and yet, this outdated scenario is exactly what the IT world is facing when it comes to video infrastructure. That is until the LifeSize UVC Platform came onto the scene.
One size doesn’t fit all
Before the LifeSize UVC Platform, IT administrators were forced to buy one appliance for one specific function. Not only was this model expensive, it also made it difficult to try, deploy and configure these appliances. There was no way to try an application before you bought it and there was no way to scale your applications as your company grew. Unfortunately, very few vendors in the video conferencing industry made a serious effort to fix this problem. The current infrastructure products on the market were complex and difficult to install.
IT admins assumed that, for ages to come, they would have to repeat the chores of deploying each new product every time they bought one. No thought had been given into a truly integrated infrastructure platform that can simplify the deployment of video conferencing infrastructure in the enterprise. No vendor deemed it necessary to take a second look at this space and provide a solution to this deeply rooted problem.
LifeSize knew there had to bet a better way and, after listening to IT admins all over the world, we developed a groundbreaking new product to redefine video infrastructure deployment.
Redefining video infrastructure
The LifeSize UVC Platform takes the capabilities of multiple products and makes them instantly available on one software platform. The platform is available as hardware or as a virtual machine running on your own servers. From the platform, you can “turn on” one or more UVC applications by purchasing a licensing key, which includes a specified capacity or feature set. With the LifeSize UVC Platform, customers have more flexibility and more control – thus, they will also have more options to customize their video infrastructure to fit their exact needs. Organizations can choose feature sets, deployment model and capacity. Even if your company outgrows your first purchase, there are options to add more capacity and upgrade to a higher feature level when needed.
With so many other innovations in the industry, from cloud computing to mobility, it just makes sense to virtualize video infrastructure and make the lives of IT admins easier. Virtualization takes server appliance real estate and power to new levels of utilization. The LifeSize UVC Platform and its integrated application suite takes these resources to yet another higher level of utilization and consolidation. The days of the repetitive task of buying, configuring and deploying separate infrastructure products are over. We believe the future of video infrastructure is the LifeSize UVC Platform and the future is here, now.
