Following the successful launch of the Lifesize Icon 700 last year, the industry’s first 4K-capable video conferencing and content sharing solution for conference rooms has picked up a prestigious distinction, the 2019 Red Dot Award for Product Design. Since 1955, the Red Dot Awards have recognized international excellence in hardware design and aesthetics, as evaluated by the vaunted Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Germany.

Lifesize Icon 700 joins a prestigious group of Red Dot Design winners, including iconic products from recognized brands like Apple, Bosch, LG and Sony.

With upwards of 5,500 product entries from 55 countries around the globe this year, the Lifesize Icon 700 was selected among thousands of submissions, joining a prestigious group of winners, which includes iconic products from recognized technology brands like Apple, Bosch, LG and Sony.

Specifically, the Red Dot panel of judges was struck by the Icon 700’s pan, tilt and zoom-enabled 4K camera as well as the camera lens ring’s unique alternating step pattern and the system’s discreet venting intakes for cooling airflow. Its stunning picture quality and zoom effortlessly extend interactions beyond the meeting room, and simplicity and intuitiveness are both infused through the accompanying Lifesize Phone HD touchscreen.

“I would like to congratulate the laureates sincerely on their wonderful success,” said Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of Red Dot. “The fact that their products were able to satisfy the strict criteria of the jury bears testimony to their award-winning design quality. The laureates are thus setting key trends in the design industry and are showing where future directions may lead.”

As the flagship product in Lifesize’s new generation of 4K meeting room systems, the Icon 700’s smart and friendly, yet professional design sets the gold standard for a line of products that will continue to delight customers using them to connect, communicate and collaborate everywhere from huddle rooms to boardrooms. Lifesize has since announced the Icon 300 and Icon 500, adding two more 4K-capable products to the award-winning Icon family of systems.

“We’re immensely proud of the creativity and innovation that went into designing and producing the Icon 700,” said Robert Maloney, senior product manager at Lifesize. “Receiving this honor is a testament to all the hard work and careful consideration invested by our product development and engineering teams, all the way from prototyping tomanufacturing. We know Lifesize customers are going to be just as impressed by the Icon 700 as Red Dot was.”

The formal Red Dot Awards Gala and Designers’ Night will take place in Essen, Germany on July 8, with many of the recognized products on display through an exhibition at the Red Dot Design Museum.
