Continued Growth as Customers Accelerate Deployment of Lifesize HD Video Communications and Telepresence to Reduce Costs, Stay Competitive in Global Economic Climate

Lifesize Communications, Inc., the global leader in high definition video communications, today announced record sales for the first half of 2009. Lifesize realized a 45 percent increase compared to the first half of 2008, fueled by unparalleled growth in all areas of its business, including video systems, infrastructure solutions, and management products and services.

Lifesize continues to add approximately 800 new customers per quarter as organizations adopt Lifesize HD video communications solutions to transform their ability to collaborate globally. Lifesize currently has video installations with more than 8000 customers, one-third of which are new users of video communications. Customer growth accelerated in large enterprises and key vertical markets including healthcare, education and federal government. Additionally, Lifesize’s expansive channel and technology partnership network places the company in more than 80 countries worldwide, resulting in approximately half of its sales volume outside of the United States.

“We are excited that, in spite of the current macro-economic conditions, we continue to deliver record performance,” said Craig Malloy, founder and CEO, Lifesize Communications, Inc. “Each quarter an ever-increasing number of customers turn to Lifesize as a key partner to help reduce cost and improve productivity so they can thrive in this current climate.”

“Lifesize is showing remarkable results in a challenging economy – atypical for enterprise technology companies today,” said Roopam Jain, principal analyst, Frost & Sullivan. “Even with an overall flat video conferencing market this year as organizations remain cautious in their capital purchases, Lifesize is growing at record levels. We project as the economy improves companies will increase their adoption of video communications, meaning Lifesize is poised to realize even greater success as the market rebounds and customers adopt high quality, price-performance communications solutions.”

Following the introduction in October 2008 of the industry-changing Lifesize® Room 200™ and Conference 200,™ which brought the first Full HD1080p30 and 720p60 systems to market, Lifesize continued to innovate throughout the first half of 2009. New product introductions included:

  • Expanded infrastructure and management offerings, including the Lifesize® Multipoint™ 230 enterprise-class multipoint control unit and Lifesize® Control™ management software, enabling video communications to seamlessly integrate into the existing enterprise IT framework.
  • Extending the HD experience to the PC with Lifesize® Desktop™ video communications software, which extends the Lifesize HD video communications experience to the mobile PC user or satellite office.
  • Driving new price performance standards for HD video communications with Lifesize® Express™ 200, which delivers dual display HD video and content at unprecedented price performance levels.

“We are reshaping the way that people communicate,” continued Malloy. “Innovation is at our core as we continue to deliver the telepresence quality of experience anywhere and everywhere. Our customers look to us not only for superior HD video solutions today, but also for the technologies that drive where visual communications will be in the future.”
