Colin Buechler named Senior Vice President of Marketing Aims to bring the promise of video communications to new markets

Lifesize Communications, the global leader in high definition video communications, today announced Colin Buechler as Senior Vice President of Marketing, reporting to Craig Malloy, CEO of Lifesize. Colin joins Lifesize after five years as a Vice President at Dell (NASDAQ: DELL).

“Colin Buechler joins our team at the most exciting time in the industry’s history,” said Craig Malloy, CEO, Lifesize Communications. “The world is eager to adopt telepresence solutions and Colin knows how to bring customers and new technology together.”

“I am excited to join a company that is changing the way people communicate,” said Buechler. “The Lifesize message of price and performance leadership is resonating in the market and driving a revolution in telepresence that is accessible to everyone. My job is to ensure that we continue build solutions that deliver on the promise of video communications to everyone.”

With the industry’s broadest and most affordable high definition product line, Lifesize is gaining market share within existing markets and expanding the market for video communications in new markets, such as global small and medium businesses (SMB). About one third of Lifesize customers are “net new” to video communications, a promising sign for future sales.

Traditional video customers – enterprise, education, government and healthcare – find Lifesize solutions ideal to upgrade to HD and dramatically increase their installed base, all within budget. And Lifesize’s commitment to price/performance is expanding the market to segments, like global SMB, who never considered video communications possible.

The Global SMB market presents an enormous greenfield opportunity for market expansion, said Buechler. “This market segment currently has less than one percent adoption of video technology – but when they see Lifesize in action, they immediately understand the benefit and become some of our most passionate customers.”

Buechler served as VP of Marketing for Dell’s Americas Business Unit, where his responsibilities included product and service positioning, pricing, inbound customer needs aggregation, outbound programs, demand generation and online across the full line of products and services. He maintained a particular focus on Dell’s mid-market business, which became the fastest, most profitable segment in the portfolio.

He also served as VP of Corporate Strategy and was a direct report to Dell’s President and COO focusing on growth strategies in new product categories and high growth segments (mid market, international). Prior to Dell, Colin worked in venture capital at eVolution Global Partners, a Kleiner Perkins/Texas Pacific Group fund, and strategy consulting in the technology industry with Bain & Company, A.T. Kearney and Andersen Consulting.

Colin holds an MBA from Harvard, graduating with Distinction, and BSE in Economics from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania.
